Firefighters Battle Blaze At Gloucester Co. Bank

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Fire officials are investigating the cause of a two-alarm blaze that broke out inside a Gloucester County bank Friday.

The blaze started at about 7:30 a.m. at the Parke Bank located on Egg Harbor Road in Washington Township, New Jersey.

Chopper 3 HD was over the fire as firefighters encountered flames and smoke billowing from the roof. The Washington Township Fire Department arrived four minutes after the initial report of heavy smoke. The second alarm was struck shortly after 8 a.m. and crews from the Deptford Fire Department arrived at the scene.

A trench cut into the roof of the building was made to keep fire from spreading to a nearby physician's office, authorities say.

The fire was brought under control at about 8:30 a.m. The bank's offices suffered significant fire damage in first floor offices and in the above attic spaces.

It was not immediately known if the bank was open at the time the fire started. There were no immediate reports of any injuries.

The fire remains under investigation.
