Basketball legend Lim Eng Beng passes away

Philippine basketball legend Lim Eng Beng passed away on Monday at 64 after years battling liver cancer.

Lim, a pioneering Chinese Filipino hoops star, was named one of the 40 greatest players in PBA history and is one of two players whose jersey has been retired by the De La Salle University Green Archers.

La Salle alumnus and sports bloogger Tony Atayde, who had been involved in raising funds for Lim in his battle for illness, confirmed the news.

Atayde had earlier reported that Lim was rushed to St. Luke's Quezon City.

Lim's body lies in state at Sanctuarium Memorial Chapel, with viewing beginning on Tuesday. —JST, GMA News
