Cornerback Morris Claiborne only unknown for Cowboys' inactive list

ARLINGTON, Texas -- The biggest health-related question for the Dallas Cowboys entering tonight’s game against the New York Jets is cornerback Morris Claiborne.

He suffered a hamstring strain late in last week’s loss to the Green Bay Packers and did not practice during the week. He is officially listed as doubtful for the game.

There is an outside shot Claiborne will play, but the Cowboys will take the decision until the inactive lists are due 90 minutes before kickoff.

Claiborne typically goes through an early warm-up, jogging around the field up to two hours before kickoff.

Linebacker Rolando McClain has been ruled out with a concussion, which means rookie Mark Nzoecha should see the first action of his career. He has been inactive the past four games after opening the season on the non-football injury list because of a knee injury suffered in college.

Deji Olatoye will be active if Claiborne can’t play as the Cowboys' fourth cornerback. The Cowboys called up Terrance Mitchell from the practice squad to serve as the nickel cornerback after releasing Tyler Patmon this week.

Claiborne missed two games this season with an injury to the same hamstring. He has had issues with hamstring injuries before.

History says Claiborne will not play tonight.

The guess at the inactives is: Tony Romo, Geoff Swaim, Brice Butler, Ronald Leary, Chaz Green, McClain and Claiborne.
