Oregon Football Recruiting: JUCO Linebacker AJ Hotchkins Commits To Ducks

The 2016 Oregon Ducks Recruiting Class received a big commitment on Sunday. 3-Star JUCO Inside Linebacker AJ Hotchkins announced on Twitter he was committing to Oregon.

The Oregon Ducks received some good news on the recruiting front on Sunday as the number three Junior College Player left on the board for 2017 has committed to the Oregon Ducks boosting the Defensive Front Line for 2016. AJ Hotchkins spent two seasons in Junior College picking up accolates for his playmaking skills along the way according to the Oregonian. Andrew Nemic said he was considered one of the best fullback’s in the country as well as an all-state Linebacker out of high school in 2014,  but his recruiting never took off out of High School.

With a bevy of players departing on the Defensive Line following the bowl game including Joe Walker, Alex Balducci and DeForest Buckner, A.J Hotchkins could find himself in a Starting role for the team next season. In his last two seasons, Hotchkins has 200 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, two sacks and a forced fumble. That kind of productivity should have Oregon Coaches salivating. He had 99 tackles in 2014 to go with 101 this season for the Riverside C.C. Tigers according to 247Sports.

Hotchkins will join Lamar Winston and Darrian Franklin on the Defense for the Oregon Ducks along with Safeties Brady Breeze and Troy Dye as members of the Class of 2016. Hotchkins brings experience on the field that should not only translate from the Junior College level, but should also help him to use his knowledge to assist his new teammates be better on the field.
