The first game of the Civil War for the State of Oregon goes back to 1894 and the rivalry is renewed every year. Although the recent past as seen the Oregon Ducks play big brother to the Beavers. The last win for the team from Corvallis was back in 2007 giving the Oregon Ducks seven straight wins against their in state rival in the Civil War. Oregon Ducks Quarterback Vernon Adams has been stellar and led the home team to seven straight wins, beginning the streak on the road and beating Oregon’s biggest Pac-12 Conference rivals in back to back weeks topping Stanford on the road and last weekend dismantling the USC Trojans at home with 6 touchdowns to six different receivers. The mood was so upbeat in the postgame press room that Adams was asked, “What did you say to the guy that didn’t throw a touchdown catch to.” Since his arrival, Adams has had to be a quick learner when it comes to the Oregon Ducks Offense and a broken finger did get in the way early in the year, but the team has turned to their leader on Offense who has led the charge.

One of the key players to watch on Friday will be Running Back Royce Freeman who can eclipse 3000 career rushing yards with a 100 yard performance, which seems to be his normal routine this season. He has more 10+ yard gains than anyone else in College Football in 2015 and currently ranks 3rd in the country in rushing. He has also pounded out over 100 yards in all 11 games for the Oregon Ducks this season, the only player in the country to accomplish the feat.

The Oregon Ducks Defense began the year with injuries as well and did not play well from the start. A shoddy Secondary led to points given up against teams like Eastern Washington and Georgia State, but as the season has moved along, the Defensive backfield has improved. Arrion Springs, who was thrust into the starting position had to ‘learn on the job’ and has shown he can become the type of player that Oregon needs. He had an interception to end the game against Arizona State on the road, and has had several big plays against USC and Stanford. Consistency will be the name of the game today on both sides of the ball.
