The Oregon Ducks may still be in the running for a coveted New Years Day Bowl. The dreams of both the College Football Playoff and the Pac-12 Championship came to an end officially last weekend. Oregon has been out of the National Title hunt since their loss to Michigan State with the Spartans actually having a chance after upsetting Ohio State last weekend. Sparty welcomes in the Penn State Nittany Lions to East Lansing this weekend for their final game of the regular season.

The Stanford Cardinal won the Pac-12 North by beating the Cal Bears last weekend in The Big Game. This weekend the Cardinal take on Notre Dame to close out the regular season. The second runner up in the Pac-12 North, Oregon has become a team on a mission that no one should want to play. Quarterback Vernon Adams has been amazing since his return to the Offense seven weeks ago on the road and the team has reeled off seven straight wins including a six touchdown performance last weekend at Autzen Stadium against the USC Trojans in a big win. Oregon has beaten both Stanford and USC, two of their biggest rivals every season.

In looking at Bowl Projections, several big prognosticators, ESPN and Yahoo! Sports have Oregon in the Alamo Bowl, likely facing Oklahoma State. Jerry Palm from CBS Sports is also in line with the Ducks and Sooners. In attending the games at Autzen Stadium, the Alamo Bowl has had representatives at the last two games in Eugene, against USC and also against Cal three weeks ago. I expect they will also be on hand Friday for the Civil War against Oregon State.
