Oregon Ducks Offense Takes Off vs USC, Vernon Adams Throws Six Touchdowns
FINAL

Earlier this year when the Pac-12 Conference announced the 2015 Football schedule there was one an only one game I circled on the calendar. USC at Oregon on November 21st. A lot has happened since then and both teams while out of the National Title Picture both have plenty to play for on Saturday at Autzen Stadium, a place that the Trojans have not visited for several years. The game will depend on the play of the Quarterbacks. Both Vernon Adams and Cody Kessler have their teams on four game winning streaks entering the game today. In looking at the Standings, currently USC controls their own fate.

The Trojans are at the top of the Pac-12 South. Oregon with several losses this season are not in control of their own destiny and must win out and look for some help. Duck fans who are in the know will have their eye on a hopeful Cal Bears upset of the Stanford Cardinal on Saturday night and a win over USC and Oregon State next week in the Civil War. If that scenario pans out, the Oregon Ducks will win the North division getting the tie breaker over Stanford and a better Conference mark vs Washington State, but first things first. USC.

Cody Kessler comes in to Autzen Stadium throwing at a 70 percent completion rate on the season. He has 23 touchdowns to just 6 interceptions and Wide Receiver Juju Smith-Schuster has ten of those toucdowns to go with over 1100 yards receiving on the season. Smith-Schuster is also a big threat on Special Teams with the return game for the USC Trojans and will be one big thing to watch in the game today. It could be decided by a Special Teams play.

On the other side, a now healthy Vernon Adams is showing why coaches brought him to Oregon from Eastern Washington. He is making plays all over the field and in clutch situations. He has ample time to do it too, with a solid Offensive Line up front led by Matt Hegarty and Tyler Johnstone. Adams also has found a new favorite target with Darren Carrington on the field. Carrington’s speed could be a difference maker today against USC and with the Trojans without two key defenders, the Ducks should take advantage.

Outside of the passing game, Oregon’s Running Game has proven to be the top in the Pac-12 led by Royce Freeman, who has another 1000 yard season and could have 1500 yards by the end of the day on Saturday. Kani Benoit has shown speed and Taj Griffin is De’Anthony Thomas like from right to left when the Oregon Ducks look to change things up.

It will be nice to have a day game at Autzen Stadium, but it will be brisk.
