Credit Union Services to Return to Newbridge

Credit Union Services to Return to Newbridge

New premises secured.

Martin Heydon, Fine Gael TD for Kildare South, has welcomed confirmation from Naas Credit Union that they have purchased a premises on Edward St Newbridge to allow them to open a credit union office in the centre of the town.

“I understand that Naas Credit Union have purchased Edward House, the former McCabes pub beside Cosgrove’s Pharmacy on Edward St which has been closed for some time.

“Since the loss of Newbridge Credit Union my main aims were to protect members savings and to get Credit Union services back into the town.  I am delighted with this confirmation today which will see credit union services back in Newbridge in early 2016

“It is almost a year since Naas Credit Union agreed to extend their common bond area to include Newbridge and this was approved by the Central Bank in early 2015.  Since then the services of Naas Credit Union have been available for Newbridge residents and they now have over 2,000 active members in the Newbridge area.
