Michael Shannon, Scoot McNairy & David Goyer Talk ‘Batman v Superman,’ Budget Rumored To Pass $400 Million
“Flippers? I think that might be a prime example of my scatological humor,” Michael Shannon told Screen Rant last month, addressing the rumor he put out in the world about his costume for “Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice.” “People ask me a lot about ‘Batman v Superman’ and I really don’t have anything to say about it, so sometimes I just make up stuff, which I’m sure Warner Bros. is really happy about.”
Indeed, the actor has been playing coy about what exactly he’ll be doing in Zack Snyder‘s “Man Of Steel” followup considering his General Zod had his neck snapped, but speaking with Cinema Blend, he puts forth a supernatural suggestion. “I say some stuff. But not a whole lot! I mean, I am dead. [Laughs] … I’m just like a ghost,” Shannon said. “It’s kind of like Russell Crowe in the first one. Jor-El. For some reason, these Kryptonian spirits, they linger. Even once you crack my neck, you can’t shut me up.”

So, ponder that, and then consider whether or not Shannon is still screwing around with fans, though this is the most plausible scenario for his involvement yet.
Meanwhile, Scoot McNairy, whose role in the movie is still under wraps, described to We Got This Covered the tone of the picture. “This is the superhero film that is more grounded in reality than any of the other ones. It’s a comic book movie, yes, but it’s very, very grounded,” he stated.
As we know, the film has already screened on the Warner Bros. lot. One person who has seen it was screenwriter David S. Goyer, and while he’s not spilling any secrets, it touched his inner fanboy. It gave him “the kind of giddiness in being a kid that grew up going to the comic book store every Saturday and reading comic books in which these two epic characters clashed,” he told Collider. “Just the fact that I got to be involved in something like that is crazy. Much less that I got to be involved in two cinematic iterations of Batman is also crazy.”
You what else is crazy? The rumored budget. Latino Review is claiming ‘Batman v Superman’ is costing Warner Bros. in the neighborhood of $410 million, which would make it one of the most expensive productions of all time. But take that with a huge grain of salt. Why? Because people like to throw around numbers, and those recent rumors of “Avengers: Infinity War” costing $1 billion are likely a lot of hot air.
