Former EBU and Italian featherweight champion Sergio Caprari has passed away at the age of 83. Caprari was an outstanding amateur and won a silver in the 1952 Olympics and then turned pro and in 1958 won both the national and EBU titles.

He was known for his excellent technical skills and is regarded as one of the greats in Italian boxing.

In his last fight - in 1962 - he was stopped in one by Filipino great Flash Elorde and was also stopped by Davey Moore. Caprari retired with a record of 52-4-2.
