Road trip to LSU highlights Tech baseball schedule
A March 8 road trip down to Baton Rouge to play LSU for the first time in 17 years highlights Louisiana Tech's 2016 baseball schedule, which the school announced Tuesday afternoon.
Tech and LSU last met in 1998 and will renew the series at Alex Box Stadium. Tech also has a home-and-home series with the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and ULM, along with games against in-state foes Grambling, McNeese State, New Orleans, Southern and Northwestern State.
Tech's 56-game slate is comprised of 28 home games at J.C. Love Field.
The home opener comes Feb. 23 against Arkansas-Little Rock after Tech opens the season with three games in the MLB Urban Youth Invitational in New Orleans. Tech will play Southern, Grambling and UNO at Maestri Field.
Tech and UL Lafayette play the first of two games Feb. 24 in Ruston. The Conference USA season starts March 18 with a three-game series at UAB and the home opener is set for March 24 against Charlotte.
Tech finished 25-27 last year in Greg Goff's first season since taking over for ex-coach Wade Simoneaux. The Bulldogs have 23 new players this year with the majority of the fresh faces coming from the JUCO route.
