Titans Quarterback Marcus Mariota Throws Key Interception In Loss To Buffalo

Buffalo Bills Head Coach Rex Ryan said early on in the week that the young Tennessee Titans Quarterback would not have his way with the Bills, and Ryan was right. Quarterback Marcus Mariota had another rough outing against one of the top defenses in the National Football League on Sunday afternoon in Nashville. For the first half of the game, the Titans showed up on both sides of the ball and built a 10-0 lead. It was not commanding by any means, but it was also not enough. The Titans Rookie would find himself making a big mistake that sealed his teams fate in the end.

With little time left on the clock and down 14-13, Mariota dropped back to pass to Kendall Wright, who appeared to be open down the left sideline, but the Buffalo Bills Defense had one more play up their sleeve as the pass was intercepted by Stephon Gilmore essentially ending the game. The Bills killed the clock by kneeling and the game was over. In the end, Mariota explained it simply, “It is what it is.” according to the Tennessean. It seems like this season for Mariota is not going to be that simple. He was hurried on Sunday on more than one occasion, including the final pass of the game which he needed to get rid of quickly as Buffalo Defender Marcell Darius was ready to put Mariota on the turf.

There is still time to right the ship. The Titans are 1-3 and are just a few plays from being 3-1. It is a long season in the National Football League and now Marcus Mariota, through another tough lesson will pick himself up, dust himself off and go back to work. Tennessee has the next series of games at home welcoming Miami and Atlanta over the next two weeks.
