Bernard Parish boy accused of bringing gun to school

CHALMETTE — St. Bernard Parish authorities have arrested a 12-year-old boy who took a handgun to Andrew Jackson Middle School. They say the boy also was in possession of ammunition.

The sheriff’s office says the Chalmette boy, whose name was not released, was booked Monday with introduction of a weapon into a school.

Students saw the gun, but authorities said he did not make any threats. The weapon apparently belongs to the boy’s mother.
