West Monroe doesn’t own golf course land

Just a quick response to Mr. Joe Brady’s “Your Views” on Sept. 28.

Apparently. Mr. Brady isn’t aware that the golf course property located on Trenton Street in West Monroe, does not belong to the city of West Monroe or the state, or can they offer the land for the use of a bridge.

This property belongs to the McGuire family trust and has been donated for public recreation only with the city of West Monroe acting as managing custodians. If this land is ever not used for public recreation it automatically reverts back to the McGuire estate.

So, back to the new bridge quagmire and, the new bridge never being built.
