LAFAYETTE -- The Lousiana Ragin' Cajuns soccer team battled the second-place Troy Trojans down to the wire, but fell, 1-0 on Sunday afternoon at the Cajuns Soccer Complex.

The Cajuns (7-6-1, 1-3 SBC) and Trojans played a scoreless first half. Louisiana had offensive opportunites in the 17th and 23rd minute, but shot attempts from juniors Yazmin Montoya and Kimberly Grasso were stopped by Troy goalkeeper Mikki Lewis.

Cajuns freshman goalkeeper Cosette Morche made four of her seven saves in the first half of play.

The Trojans had three offensive looks in the 65th minute and came through with the match-winner on the third try, courtesy of Robyn Whittaker, who was assisted by Brooke McKee down the left side of the goalie box.

Louisiana battled looking to tie the match and go into overtime for the second straight contest, but junior Taylor Kennedy's shot at minute 85 was saved by Lewis.
