Louisiana Tech took care of business against in-state foe the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, cruising to a 43-14 win.

The Bulldogs extended their series win streak over the Cajuns to eight in the process. Below are some quick hits from the win.

Turning point: Tech kicked a 41-yard field goal with 17 seconds left in the first half and it appeared UL Lafayette would run the clock out. Instead, the Cajuns dialed up two pass plays, the latter of which went for an interception that Bryson Abraham returned 50 yards for a touchdown and a 29-7 lead. Tech brought pressure on the play and hit quarterback Jalen Nixon, whose pass fluttered to Abraham like a punt. Abraham sprinted down the sideline behind a wall of blockers and dove into the end zone as time expired.

It was over when … Marcus Gaines took a 72-yard screen pass to the house to put Tech up 36-7 with 13:26 left in the third quarter.

Stat of the game: Gaines had a career-high eight catches for a 165 yards and a touchdown in place of Carlos Henderson, who missed the game with a hamstring injury.

Notable quote: Jeff Driskel, senior quarterback, on Bryson Abraham's leap into the end zone for a touchdown. "He had a nice little hurdle into the end zone. That was sweet. Hopefully someone got a cool picture of that. I'm sure it will be his Facebook profile photo."

Miscellaneous: Tech recorded an interception for the first time in three games when the Bulldogs had two against Southern. Abraham's pick-six was Tech's first in that category since Xavier Woods returned an interception for a touchdown in a 2014 bowl win over Illinois.

Miscellaneous, Part II: The announced attendance was 26,910, which is the fourth-largest crowd in Joe Aillet Stadium history. Tech coach Skip Holtz asked for a sellout Monday and almost got it, although it was about 1,000 fans less than the crowd for Southern.

Up next: Tech is back in Conference USA play next weekend against Texas-San Antonio. The Bulldogs edged the Roadrunners, 27-20, during last year's meeting.
