Oregon Ducks Wide Receiver Bralon Addison Could Be Key To 2015 Success

Bralon Addison has  returned this season after missing all of 2014 from a spring practice injury, and it looks like Addison hasn’t missed a step. Addison looked really good in his second game against Michigan State catching seven passes for 138 yards. The highlight for him and the Ducks was his 81 yard punt return that tied the game at 14 and earned him the Pac-12 special team player of the week.

Many were wondering if Addison could come back at full strength, but he has put those doubts to rest. After four games he has 16 receptions, 216 yards, two touchdowns and one punt return for a touchdown. His 2013 season was his best for the Ducks when he finished with 61 receptions, 890 yards, a 14.6 average per catch, seven touchdowns and three punt returns for touchdowns. Everybody remembers the Cal game when he ran back two punts for touchdowns at Autzen stadium.

After the possible loss of Byron Marshall for the season, who left with an injury in the blowout loss to Utah, the Ducks lost a great wide reciever in Marshall. Not to mention the slow recovery wide receiver, Devon Allen. Addison a red shirt junior will have to step up in a big way for the Ducks. In 2014, many thought he would be the featured wide receiver, but his injury in spring practice cut his season before he could even get started. This season he has a chance to finally fill that role as the Ducks injuries at skilled positions mount. Addison can be the go-to guy for the Ducks, and take pressure off whoever the Ducks decide to start behind center.

The Ducks need a combination of skilled position guys to lead the team like Freeman and Addison now that Oregon is banged up. The quarterback situation is still up in the air, but if Addison can regain his 2013 form the Ducks can hopefully salvage the season, make a push for the Pac-12 Championship or at least make a bowl.
