On Saturday as the Oregon Football team prepared to take on Utah, word broke that the Oregon Basketball team picked up likely their biggest commitment for the Class of 2016. MJ Cage visited Eugene last weekend and was a name on the list of schools like Arizona and Kentucky, but after his visit he decided to come to the Ducks according to OregonLive.com. Cage has basketball in his blood. His father, Michael Cage spent several years in the NBA and currently works for the Oklahoma City Thunder according to the report.

The timeline for Cage’s commitment had to be precision timed like the final shot of the NCAA Tournament. With his dad needed to get back to Oklahoma City, the time for the visit from Oregon Head Coach Dana Altman, to his visit to campus last weekend had to come together quickly, and it did. Now, the Ducks have a player who could become a key role player in the offense in his Freshman season with the Oregon Ducks.

247Sports has Oregon with the seventh best recruiting Class of 2016. Altman has put in the work and now has three 4-star players including Cage, Point Guard Payton Pritchard, and Small Forward Keith Smith. Cage is listed as a 4-star Power Forward with 247Sports and is considered the sixth best athlete out of the State of California. Rivals has Cage listed as the 54th best player in the country.

The 2015 College Basketball season is quickly approaching. Oregon begins the non-conference slate hosting Jackson State on Friday, November 13th.
