Manchester United sealed a deal for Anthony Martial, but it all went wrong with David de Gea's switch to Real Madrid.

The paperwork failed to arrive before the Spanish transfer window closed so the keeper's time at Old Trafford may not be over.

Teen winger Martial has joined in a €50m deal - here are five things you didn't know about the Monaco forward. You can read our scouting report of Martial here.

Deadline Day latest - HERE!

Will David De Gea go? Will Keylor Navas come?

Have Louis van Gaal and Ed Woodward got something up their sleeves today?

You can follow ALL of Manchester United’s transfer dealings here today as we find out who’s coming and going at Old Trafford.

Surely it can’t be as busy as yesterday!

And breathe!

What. A. Night!

So much for a relaxing Bank Holiday with the David De Gea situation far from sorted.

The paperwork was not received by the LFP before the 11pm deadline but United and Real hope the deal can be finalised today.

Some reports in Spain suggested United did not send their documentation until 11:01 but those now seem wide of the mark.

FIFA will look into the deal today (yep, it is Tuesday) with a possibility it could still go through.

It threatens to be a hectic deadline day - and that’s not to mention the other clubs.

It’s gonna be all-systems go and we will have everything you need to know right here.

Make sure you join us bright and early for gossip, rumours and done deals - and hopefully some news on De Gea.

Bring it on!

A password!?

This is getting even more bizarre now.

MARCA are claiming that the deal failed to go through because United’s documents were password-protected.

If this was the case, what could the password possibly be?

Where does this leave De Gea?

As we mentioned earlier, David De Gea was said to be “distraught” at tonight’s events.

He was in Madrid at his girlfriend’s house and travelled to the Bernabeu as he hoped to secure a dream move.

Will he play for United again after all this? Would Louis van Gaal select him?

If his head hasn’t been right over the last few weeks, you cannot imagine what it will be like now.

The move could still go through but if not, LVG will have a very disgruntled player on his hands.

Fury in Spain

Well it doesn’t take a translator to work out what MARCA made of tonight’s events.

In fairness, it couldn’t have been summed up any better.

Could a wrong file format really scupper the deal?

FIFA to look into switch tomorrow?

More from Guillem Balague now who claims FIFA will look into the deal tomorrow.

Both Real Madrid AND United are said to want the deal to go through but La Liga are adamant the paperwork did not arrive on time.

That could be it for tonight and tomorrow could be even busier than expected.

Don’t you just love deadline day!

You cannot be serious...

Could this really be true?

As we said earlier, United are adamant they sent their files in time for Real to complete the deal.

But it is now being claimed that Real couldn’t open the document format!

If that stops a deal going through then it could well be one of the craziest explanations of all time!

Real to fight for switch

Real are now trying to get the deal vetoed by Spanish authorities.

Let’s not forget, they are the most powerful club in the world and if anyone can do it, they can!

It is being claimed Real have proof of the deal and United are adamant they have submitted it in time.

De Gea is said to be “distraught” by the news - but could he yet be cheered up?

This is going to be a long night...

United held up deal?

It is now being suggested that United filed their paperwork for Navas at ONE minute past 11.

Will the La Liga board allow Real to seal the deal?

As we told you earlier, there is no precedent in Spain for clubs being allowed to extend the deadline.

United hit panic button

Less than 24 hours after insisting he would not panic-buy, Louis van Gaal would appear to have done just that.

The Manchester United boss has pushed the emergency button by making unproven Monaco striker Anthony Martial, 19, the most expensive teenager in football history at £36million.

United insist the deal for Martial was completed so close to Tuesday’s transfer deadline because Monaco would not countenance his sale while they remained in the Champions League. The French side were knocked out of the qualifiers by Valencia a week ago.

But the purchase of Martial, with United unable to lure more stellar targets such asGareth Bale, Thomas Muller and Harry Kane to Old Trafford this summer, reeks of a fall-back option — and an expensive one at that.

United 'held up paperwork'

Further reports coming from Spain that the paperwork didn’t go through.

It is claimed the hold-up came from United’s side!

Of course nothing has been confirmed yet and De Gea could still join Real.

De Gea to STAY?!

Oh wow!

According to Spanish football expert, David De Gea could be STAYING at Manchester United.

It is claimed everything was agreed for the switch but the paperwork didn’t go through before 11pm.

Now that would be a turn-up!

What's going on?

Keylor Navas IS at the Bernabeu but has the paperwork gone through?

Nobody seems to know with the Spanish window having shut.

We are yet to hear officially from either club - will we at any stage tonight?

Spanish transfer window closed!

That’s it!

Have Real got their deal for De Gea over the line?

Stay here for all the latest.

Rojo future in doubt after LVG 'row'

Marcos Rojo’s future at Manchester United is in doubt after a reported bust-up with Louis van Gaal.

The Argentine arrived at Old Trafford for £16million last summer and enjoyed a decent first campaign in the Premier League.

However, he has not featured at all this term after failing to join United’s pre-season tour of North America.

Rojo, along with Angel Di Maria, was due to join up after Argentina’s Copa America campaign but both failed to appear.

Passport issues prevented Rojo’s inclusion but Van Gaal was left livid, fining his defender around two weeks wages.

De Gea latest - Tick tock

Real Madrid have just an hour to get the David De Gea deal over the line.

Spanish expert Guillem Balague has revealed the two clubs are still waiting on paper work to complete the deal with terms and fee agreed.

He claims an extension has never been granted in Spain for a team to complete a signing.

Will this one go through? We wait in anticipation.

They paid how much?

Some interesting news coming out of France regarding Anthony Martial this evening.

Don’t worry United fans, he is still on his way - but you might just have paid a bit more than you thought.

A £36m fee has been touted all day but according to Canal+, Monaco believe they will be paid £58m!! (€80m)

That would be just under the British transfer record - currently held by Angel Di Maria after his switch to United a year ago.

Now that seems extortionate!

Have United found their new No.1?

Well this could be the biggest turn up for the books!

Is Victor Valdes now STAYING at Manchester United?

The Spaniard looked certain to leave after falling out with Louis van Gaal over his reported refusal to play for the club’s Under-21 side.

A switch to Besiktas fell through over the weekend and judging Valdes’ latest activity on Facebook, he could be set to stay at Old Trafford.

David De Gea is heading for Real Madrid, as we’ve told you all day, with Keylor Navas arriving as part of the deal.

He is set to do battle with Sergio Romero for the No.1 spot, but could Valdes yet have a role to play?

Could Rojo go too?

The Telegraph are reporting Marcos Rojo could also leave Manchester United.

Rojo hasn’t featured for the club since returning from the Copa America along with countryman Angel Di Maria.

Di Maria, of course, left for PSG and it is claimed Rojo could also follow him out of Old Trafford.

Could United really afford to lose another before the end of the window?

Is Navas good enough for Man United?

Manchester United look set to replace the outgoing David de Gea with Real Madridgoalkeeper Keylor Navas.

United and Madrid’s game of chicken is set to finally come to an end with De Gea ready to complete a £29million move back home to the Spanish capital.

As part of that deal, Navas, a Costa Rican international, is expected to move to Old Trafford to compete with fellow new-boy Sergio Romero for the gloves in Louis van Gaal’s team.

MirrorFootball takes a look at what United will be getting...

You couldn't make it up...

Manchester United bosses have been slammed by food hygiene inspectors by failing to get to grips with mice infestations at Old Trafford.

A food hygiene report obtained by the Mirror shows inspectors have accused the club of failing to take measures to prevent pests getting into the stadium’s kitchens.

Old Trafford has had long-running issues with mice and United have previously had to call in pest control contractors to sort out problems with rodents in the North and South stands.

Mice have even previously been spotted scurrying across the hallowed turf at theTheatre of Dreams.

But hygiene inspectors from Trafford Council found the club was ‘failing to implement’ proper measures to control pests within its kitchens.

De Gea 'deal agreed'

Press Association are reporting that Manchester United have agreed to sell David De Gea to Real Madrid for £29million.

Keylor Navas will be heading to Old Trafford as part of the deal, as we expected.

We will have the official confirmation as soon as it breaks!

Deadline day emoji!

If you’re wondering what else we could possibly add to deadline day - well now you have got an answer.

The bosses at Twitter have only gone and released a deadline day emoji for all football fans over the next 24 hours.

Gary Lineker was the first to get involved as he looks ahead to the big day.

Reckon we will be sick of it by 6pm tomorrow?

Lindegaard bids farewell

Anders Lindegaard has taken to Twitter to reveal his delight at joining West Brom.

The Dane sealed his switch to the Hawthorns earlier this afternoon, agreeing a two-year deal.

ICYMI - United's generation game

What a difference two seasons can make in football.

Just ask Manchester United. Since they last won the Premier League title in 2013, the Red Devils’ squad has undergone a radical overhaul – first under David Moyes and subsequently under Louis van Gaal.

Much of that, of course, was down to necessity: it is widely accepted that Sir Alex Ferguson neglected to reinforce areas of weakness in his final seasons at Old Trafford, meaning the squad inherited by Moyes needed fresh blood.

But the extent of the change since Fergie’s last season is nonetheless staggering. With Jonny Evans having left for West Brom, Rafael Da Silva now at Lyon and Anders Lindegaard expected to fly the coop soon, there are but a handful of players who remain from the 2012/13 campaign.

Wayne Rooney, Michael Carrick, Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Ashley Young represent an English core that has carried over, while Antonio Valencia has proven himself a loyal servant.

De Gea latest

Just to keep you up-to-date, there is yet to be any confirmation on David De Gea’s proposed move to Real Madrid.

Reports in Spain claim a deal has been agreed, with Keylor Navas heading to Old Trafford as part of the switch.

We wait for an official announcement but don’t forget the Spanish transfer window shuts this evening (11pm UK time).

Manchester United's Anders Lindegaard and David de Gea watch from the stands

A remarkable stat from our friends at the Manchester Evening News.

Since arriving at Old Trafford last summer, Louis van Gaal has ended 27 careers at the club!

Of course plenty of that was down to the need for an overhaul but the stat is quite staggering!
