South Milwaukee sophomore with leukemia joins varsity team for first snap
It was a special Friday night under the lights in South Milwaukee as a 95-pound sophomore hit the football field with the varsity team.VIDEO: Dream to come true for area teen battling LeukemiaWISN 12 News reporter Max Seigle found Jordan Schroeder and two teammates playing football at home Friday afternoon, hours away from a moment he's been dreaming about."I'm going to be on the field with the big guys, and it's just makes me feel happy,” Jordan Schroeder said.The 16-year-old got the chance to enjoy the first snap of the game when South Milwaukee hosted West Allis Hale Friday night.It was just one play without contact because he's fighting leukemia."It's going to be a really good moment for me,” Jordan Schroeder said.Schroeder said he's loved playing football since he was a little kid. While he can't play as much these days, he's grateful for what he can do."I kind of feel stronger when I go to football practice, and it just gets out of my mind, and I don't think that I have cancer anymore when I'm at practice,” Jordan Schroeder said.Schroeder's mom said he's come a long way since the diagnosis two years ago. She couldn’t wait until the game Friday night."Say thank you over and over. That's not enough. It's amazing, and I'm very proud to be of South Milwaukee,” Jonelle Schroeder said.Schroeder was wearing No. 87.

WISN 12 News reporter Max Seigle found Jordan Schroeder and two teammates playing football at home Friday afternoon, hours away from a moment he's been dreaming about.

"I'm going to be on the field with the big guys, and it's just makes me feel happy,” Jordan Schroeder said.

The 16-year-old got the chance to enjoy the first snap of the game when South Milwaukee hosted West Allis Hale Friday night.

It was just one play without contact because he's fighting leukemia.
