Point guard Payton Pritchard, the No. 43 player in the ESPN 100 for 2016, has told ESPN that he will attend Oregon.
The 6-foot-1 prospect from West Linn, Oregon, initially committed to Oklahoma in November but changed his mind and reopened his commitment July 6. Pritchard chose coach Dana Altman and the Ducks over OU, Michigan and Kansas.
"I visited Oregon twice during the summer unofficially, because it is only about 90 minutes away from my house," Pritchard said. "I wanted to stay in the state, and I have a great relationship with Coach Altman."
Pritchard moved up from No. 53 to No. 43 in the most recent ESPN 100, revealed earlier this week. He is ranked No. 8 at the point guard position in the 2016 class and No. 1 overall in the state of Oregon.
He had one of the standout single-game performances of the July evaluation period, scoring 37 points for Team Fast Elite against a talented Florida Sons squad at the Adidas Uprising Gauntlet in Atlanta. Pritchard was 9-of-11 from 3-point range and recorded 10 assists in the win.
Pritchard averaged 22.0 points and 5.8 assists per game at West Linn High School in 2014-15, leading the Lions to a third straight Class 6A championship.
He joins Seattle-area wing Keith Smith, who selected the Ducks after decommitting from San Diego State, in Oregon's 2016 class.
