A Halfords lorry has proven it still doesn't fit after hitting a bridge in Eden Park for the second time in less than a year.

The Halfords lorry, which is branded "we fit" on the back, became lodged under the bridge on Eden Park Avenue at around 9.15 this morning (August 22).

In October last year another 'we fit' Halfords lorry got stuck under a bridge less than a mile down the road in South Eden Park Road.

The Hayes line was part suspended earlier today whilst the lorry was removed and passengers were advised to use their tickets on alternative routes.

Danny Speed, who lives around the corner from the railway line in Merlin Grove, has been eyewitness to both occasions when Halfords drivers have underestimated the height of their lorries.

This morning he was leaving home in his car when he had a case of déjà vu as he spotted another trapped Halfords lorry.

The 24-year-old, who was jovial about the inconvience to his journey, told News Shopper: "It had gone right under the bridge and got stuck.

"The fire brigade were there, it took them about an hour and a half to get it out."

Mr Speed said other than the two Halfords incidents it's rare for lorries to get stuck under either bridge.

He added: "The 'we fit' just makes it that much more ironic.

"It will only be a matter of time before it happens again."

A spokeswoman for Southeastern said: "The lorry has been removed for under the bridge and our trains are back running as normal."
