Generally, this issue is most successful when it focuses on Annie. Early on, her narration explores the constant frustration she feels at being forced to hide her powers. That material pays off when Annie finally is given the chance to cut loose and prove that she's a chip off the old superhero block.
This issue falls a bit short of its predecessors visually as well. Adam Kubert and Scott Hanna are both merely credited for "art" here, but it appears that Hanna is providing finishes over Kubert's layouts. The result is an issue that offers clear storytelling and vibrant action, but with a diminished sense of detail and a more rushed quality to the figure work. Hopefully Kubert will be back in top form for the finale.
