In an earlier article on BoxingScene.com, Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya, who promotes Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, told our very own Steve Kim that a single hurdle remains with respect to finalizing a deal to fight WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto on November 21 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

De La Hoya said the two sides are at odds over some minor details pertaining to the rematch clause, and they are waiting for an answer from Cotto's legal adviser Gaby Penagaricao.

"All we need is to negotiate one little point.  Look Golden Boy's on board, Roc Nation (Sports) is on board, Canelo's on board, Cotto's on board, Vegas is on board, The only person we're waiting for is Gaby Penagaricano," De La Hoya told BoxingScene.com.

"I know Cotto wants the fight, I know he's already training, same for 'Canelo, he's already training, he's ready to do. We're waiting for an answer from Gaby."

Penagaricano has responded and says he and Cotto won't allow themselves to agree to certain items through public pressure.

"The information supplied by my friend Oscar is false," said Peñagarícano to El Vocero. "We have come a long way and have agreed to most of the issues related to this fight. But there are still several important components that we have to agree on."

"I see no major impediment to the agreement being reached. But to apply pressure through the press during the negotiations will have zero effect on Miguel Cotto and his team. That strategy has not worked for Oscar in the past, nor is it going to work now."

"The mere fact that Oscar went to the press and said what he said, I think it's the best evidence that his side feels cornered. He saw that through private negotiations that he was not getting what he wanted to get. We have never entered into negotiations through the press. Nor will I think about doing it now."
