Much has been written in recent weeks about a memo sent to McDonald’s franchisees regarding a possible conversion to all-day breakfast in October.

I, for one, would welcome the change.

Arguably, breakfast is the best meal available at McDonald’s — though, there’s really only two meals available, since lunch and dinner options are exactly the same.

The chain took a baby step into serving all-day breakfast a few years ago when it started offering a limited number of breakfast items in the wee hours with its McDonald’s After Midnight campaign. More recently, the fast-food chain began testing all-day breakfast at restaurants in San Diego and Nashville.

I would love the opportunity to order an Egg McMuffin for lunch, but will others feel the same? Perhaps we’ll find out in October.

If beer is more your thing, you might want to check out The Beer Room in Grand Terrace, which recently opened and will be hosting a grand opening Friday and Saturday.

The Beer Room offers a unique experience in the Inland Empire. Along with 10 taps of draft beer, there’s also a selection of bottles to choose from, which you can either enjoy at the bar or take home.

The beer selection will change as kegs are emptied and as bottles leave the shop.

Right now, the taps are leaning a little on the San Diego side, but with a good mix of other breweries — from Riverside to Bend, Ore. — represented.

The Beer Room, 22587 Barton Road, is open daily except Tuesdays.
