The monthly test of the state’s civil defense sirens will be conducted at 11:45 a.m. Monday. 

The regularly scheduled monthly test has nothing to do with Tropical Storm Guillermo, as it moves west-northwest toward the main Hawaiian islands. 

There will be an one-minute steady tone on all sirens, city Department of Emergency Management officials said. When the steady tone is heard in circumstances other than a test, the public should turn to any radio or television station for essential emergency information and instructions.

In addition to the monthly test Monday, officials said, residents in areas surrounding Campbell Industrial Park, Honokai Hale, Makakilo, Kapolei Regional Park, Kapolei Golf Course, and the Coast Guard Station at Kalaeloa may also hear a “whooping” tone following the siren test. This tone is a test of the hazardous materials incident outdoor siren warning group that will be activated in the event of a HAZMAT incident.
