For me, this is a "must have" video. A fascinating story about a father and son, separated by 30 years when the father dies, and then how they come to be back together. You will recognize some aspects of the "Butterfly Effect" in the movie, and a little touch of the "Twilight Zone" . As a change in one facet of their life, alters their future lives as events unfold. It is and engaging mystery movie as well, and without giving the ending away, you will enjoy the many twists and turns the movie takes . Enjoy - it is a movie you an watch more than once and enjoy finding new nuggets you missed on earlier viewings. all in all, a fun movie with a hanky ending.

The story line was great. Jumping back and forth between the '60s and the current time (for the movie) kept the viewer engaged and waiting to see what was going to happen next. I'm an old time believer (spoiler) in happy endngs so this worked well for me.

This is a excellent film to watch with your older kids, especially for a Father's Day or Father/Son celebration momments. This is a GOOD movie. It is full of heart felt love yet has suspense and action at the same time. The movie has a excellent story behind it and Really makes you appreciate family love at the same time. I normally never buy movies unless the overall theme and movie is worthy reminder of some of life's blessings (such as the love of a Father and his son and about family love in general)...it is a "feel-good "movie; It is uplifting in the end and yet it is an action/suspense/drama movie at the same time. At first I was not interested until many men or grown males (married or not married ; all of which do not know each other) each had a remarkably same generally highly reccomended praise for this movie...which I thought was unusal...so I saw it and then I knew I had to buy it for my husband and son to enjoy 2gether or during family viewing time (better for older teens to watch this, due to the actions/suspense...Now I understnad why this movie is always out and rented at my nearby Blockbuster store. ....now I understand, why it is a keeper.....IF you want to get into a more humbled, more appreciative mood for life and just a better mood in the end..this will uplift you and your loved ones.Read full review
I love the movie Frequency, starring Dennis Quaid and Jim Caviezel. I never had the chance to watch the movie when it made its debut in 2000. But I am now very happy to tell you I am the proud owner of the DVD. After viewing the movie not once but twice I was hooked. I knew then, I had to have the DVD of the movie. Frequency is well planned out movie not anything gives away the ending. The entire cast makes this movie surprising. The plot itself is very intriguing. Seems a father and son some how thru time and space with the help of Northern Lights, or aurora borealis, around the time the sun begins its cycle of sun spotting, solar flares, meet at a place that merges both of their existing times to one of past and present. The father Frank Sullivan (Dennis Quaid) is a Ham operator, firefighter. His son John Sullivan is a cop now amateur ham operator (Jim Caviezel) revisits the past hooking up his fathers old ham set with friends, there the intrigue begins as father and son meet thru the air waves. What the two create together is a very plausible scenario, one I can tell you kept me spellbound. I loved the heart of this movie. The son trying to save his father he lost so long ago, a father consumed with putting things to right. Now together father and son have to repair the damage of changing time, their past, to ensure their families future. I am sure this had to have been one of the best movies of 2000. At least I think so! Not only is the acting superb but also the story line had a touch of the refreshing, that a lot of today’s films seem to lack, that being of substance. Can I tell you anything I didn’t like about the movie, Absolutely, not a thing! I loved every facet of this intense work. I am very glad every now and again to be able to relax with my family and watch such a great movie. Frequency you have my two thumbs up!!Read full review
Sentimental, touching, exciting, intriguing, unique. That's just a few of the adjectives that come to mind. The whole family should enjoy this. It reminds me of THE SIXTH SENSE in the areas of thrills and family connections a'la the Twilight Zone. All his life John Sullivan (Jim Caviezel) has been haunted by the tragic death of his father when John was a boy. Frank Sullivan (Dennis Quaid) was a cop killed in the line of duty. His son John, grew up to be a fireman. While cleaning out the attic, John finds his father's HAM Radio and hooks it up. Due to weird electrical activity in the atmosphere like the Northern Lights playing havoc with the airwaves, John slowly realizes the man he's talking to is HIS FATHER WHO DIED 30 YEARS AGO. Frank (Quaid) isn't so quick to pick up on WHO he's speaking to and when John reveals himself DAD is extremely skeptical. The little boy playing on the floor next to him is grown up and talking to him on the radio FROM THE FUTURE? It's a hard sell for John. If this isn't exciting enough already, there's a SERIAL KILLER on the loose in the PRESENT that John is looking for who began his homicidal hobby back in Dad's day. John knows stopping this psycho BACK THEN is critical to his family. Putting their heads together, exchanging ideas, batting the ball around between two very compatible minds Dad notices undeniable similarities, so he can't completely dismiss, no matter HOW ABSURD, that he just MIGHT be talking to his SON. The impact of the emotions these two grown men share are incredibly portrayed by two top tier actors. DENNIS QUAID should've been NOMINATED for an OSCAR and the FILM itself should have been NOMINATED FOR BEST PICTURE.Read full review
