Settlers, police clash as state begins demolishing illegal structures in Beit El

Settlers and security forces clashed in the West Bank settlement of Beit El as authorities began demolishing an illegally built structure as per a High Court ruling earlier on Wednesday.

Hundreds of settlers on the scene were protesting the court ruling. During the demonstrations, scuffles broke out between settlers and police who have taken control of the two apartment buildings and the surrounding premises.

Some settlers began hurling stones at officers while others set fire to objects nearby. The Border Police and crack paramilitary units are on their way to Beit El to provide reinforcements on site.
