A six-inch cast iron water main burst under a Sherman Oaks street early Tuesday, knocking out service to four multi-family buildings, officials said.

About 4 a.m. the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the call of flooding in the 14300 block of Huston Street at Lennox Avenue and found the water coming up through the pavement, said spokesman Brian Humphrey.

“There was a ruptured water line. There were no evacuations and no reports of structure damage,” he said. “DWP arrived 5:02 and we left at 5:03.”

There was some moderate street damage.
