Netanyahu vows to work to prevent demolition of homes in West Bank settlement

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Tuesday that his government would do its utmost to prevent the demolition of homes in the West Bank settlement of Beit El.
Facing a backlash from several of his ministers over the pre-dawn eviction of squatters in an apartment building that the High Court has ruled must be razed, Netanyahu said that he was opposed to demolishing the structure.
"We are working to strengthen Jewish settlement, and we are doing this in accordance with the law," the premier said. "Our position on the matter of the homes in Beit El is clear - we are opposed to demolition and are working through legal channels to prevent it."
