Sebastian Contoursi, manager of Marcos Maidana (35-5, 31KOs), would like to get his fighter a rematch with Amir Khan (31-3, 19KOs).

They first met in December of 2010. Maidana was dropped very hard in the first round from hook to the body. He recovered and got himself back in the fight. He lost a point for throwing an elbow in the fifth round and had Khan in serious trouble in the late rounds. Khan was able to survive and won a very close twelve round unanimous decision.

Contoursi spoke with Buenos Aires outlet "First Glove" - "I would like Marcos to face Amir Khan in a rematch. But this is still my personal desire. It appears Khan will not be fighting with Floyd Mayweather [on September 12]."

Maidana has been out of the ring since losing two decisions last year to Floyd Mayweather. Khan fought in May and won a twelve round decision over Chris Algieri. Both Khan and Maidana are advised by Al Haymon.

Maidana has mentioned August, September for coming down to the United States to start training. He wants to see how his body feels in the gym. The boxer admits that he's lost some motivation after reaching the pinnacle of his career by facing Mayweather. He says big fights and big money will motive him to fight.
