Starr Homeplace to host community day

Special to The News-Star

Starr Homeplace will hold the end of season community day on Saturday.

The Homeplace is in Oak Ridge and has 19 small museums on the quiet plantation. The event will play host to a wide variety of age groups, and children are encouraged to attend with their parents.

"We have a huge barn with the farm equipment museum in the back side and a loft filled with books," Curator Joe Rolfe said. "We welcome any artists, camera clubs, craftsman to come share the day — rain or shine.

"Even through the community days are over after July 11, until the cool days of fall, we are open for tour buses, outfitting tours, church and clubs. We have a complete outfitted kitchen and serve for a donation on community days."

Picnics are welcome; picnic tables are outside and in the barn in case of rain.
