Gators flip Miami Hurricanes commit

Florida Gators 2017 quarterback commit Jake Allen (6-2, 185, Fort Lauderdale, FL St. Thomas Aquinas) tweeted early Tuesday morning that Florida was going to be getting news soon and Gators fans didn’t have to wait long for that news.

It was big news for Florida when 2017 offensive lineman Kadeem Telfort (6-6, 323, Miami, FL Norland) flipped his commitment from the Miami Hurricanes to Florida on Tuesday.

“I am extremely happy to announce that I will be committing to the University of Florida,” Telfort said.

Telfort visted Florida in June for Head Coach Jim McElwain’s football camp and he was impressed by Florida Gators offensive line coach Mike Summers.

“Coach Summers is a cool coach to work with,” he said. “He understands how to coach and when you make a mistake he just helps you out. He’s a very calm coach that teaches you. I like his style.”

The Gators also had help from his teammate and fellow Florida commit Vosean Joseph who tweeted his congratulations to Telfort on Tuesday morning.

“I told y’all I was going to get my youngin to flip,” Joseph said via Twitter about Telfort.

With Telfort’s commitment to Florida the Gators now have three commits in the class of 2017 joining Allen and receiver Lavarus Tigner who was the first commit in the class of 2017.

INSIDERS TAKE: McElwain loves having big offensive linemen in his offense and Telfort is the first big step towards getting his line the way he wants it. Telfort will be someone that Florida has to hold onto because he’s on his second commitment before his junior year starts.

Gator Country.com will have much more on Telfort’s commitment to Florida.
