Council on Aging Meals on Wheels gets $25K donation
Ouachita Council on Aging received $25,000 from UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Louisiana to support and enhance the Meals on Wheels program, which will provide needed services to people in northeastern Louisiana.
Brad Grundmeyer of UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Louisiana presented the donation to Lynda McGehee, executive director, Ouachita Council on Aging.
The grant will help serve seniors throughout the local community by providing a more enhanced Meals on Wheels program that uses multiple vans for food delivery to low-income and underprivileged seniors. Ouachita Council on Aging provides food to approximately 300 seniors a day.
“This funding will enable Ouachita Council on Aging to provide the necessary resources, transportation and delivery of food to one of our most vulnerable populations,” said Grundmeyer. “It’s through these local partnerships that we can make a positive impact on Louisianans’ lives and make the communities we serve happier and healthier.”
