Former Green Bay Packers executive Pat Peppler dies at 93
The Green Bay Press-Gazette remembered three recently departed Packers last week, including former team executive Albert "Pat" Peppler, who passed away on June 23 at the age of 93.
Peppler was the Packers' director of player personnel from 1963-1971. Team historian Cliff Christl claims legendary head coach Vince Lombardi recommended Peppler to be his successor as general manager 1968, according the Press-Gazette, but the position went to Phil Bengtson. Peppler later joined front offices in Atlanta, Houston and New Orleans before retiring from the NFL in 1985.
The Press-Gazette also recognized the deaths of former Packers end Steve Pritko (1949-50) and offensive tackle Kevin Hunt (1972), who was only 66 years old. Pritko was the second-oldest living player at 94, according to the report.
