JEFFERSON CITY, MO – Missouri Governor Jay Nixon has appointed Jefferson County Sheriff Glenn Boyer to the states Veteran’s Commission. Boyer has been sheriff of Jefferson County since 1993, and is a Vietnam Veteran.

Boyer has been in law enforcement for over 40 years, starting his career with the Missouri State Highway Patrol in 1974.

The Veterans’ Commission is empowered to aid all veterans, their dependents, and legal representatives by providing information regarding the rights of veterans, dependents to access benefits through the state and federal government. The commission also operates 7 veteran’s homes, 5 veteran cemeteries and the Veterans Services Program.

The appointed will last till November 2, 2017.

Boyer’s appointment needs to be confirmation by the Missouri Senate.
