Ducks, Sun Devils get bang for buck

Oh those Oregon Ducks ... efficient with their offensive attack as well as their checkbook. In case you were wondering, Oregon head coach Mark Helfrich was quite the steal for his first couple of years as head coach. The smart guys at CBS ran the numbers and came up with Helfrich making a mere $153,846 per win.

Todd Graham was also a blue light special, making $270,296 per win for Arizona State.

Using the USA Today coaching database, Chip Patterson broke down the dollars per win of the 25 highest paid coaches in college football. It’s not a list you want to be at the top of if fiscal responsibility is something you hold dear. That’s why guys like Helfrich (pre-extension) and Graham delivered bang for the buck. This is what Patterson wrote:

Oregon's Mark Helfrich was an absolute steal at $153,846 per win in 2014. After a 24-4 start to his head coaching career, it was no surprise to see Helfrich's annual salary boosted from $2 million to an average of $3.5 million per year as part of a new five-year deal announced earlier this year.

Washington’s Chris Petersen comes in at a total of $460,215 per win. Moving further down the list you have Rich Rodriguez ($329,850) and Jim Mora ($325,000).
