Prefontaine Classic Field Loaded With Oregon Alumni
This week the Prefontaine Classic will take place at Hayward Field on the fortieth anniversary of the death of its namesake, Oregon Runner Steve Prefontaine. The field this year is, well, stacked is the best way to put it.

From Olympic Champions, World Record Holders, and former University of Oregon Alumni including Galen Rupp and Andrew Wheating. Rupp will participate in the 5000 meters, along with Bernard Legat. Former Oregon Alum Andrew Wheating will be racing in the International Mile race on Saturday along with Lopez Lomong, Ben Blankenship and Mac Fleet. Mo Farrah will run in the 10,000 meter.
Aside from Oregon Alumni, other familiar faces competing will include Allyson Felix, Justin Gatlin and Sanya Richards-Ross, all Olympic Champions.
According to NBC Sports the final race of the event, the Bowerman Mile will be a battle between Kenya and the US. The race will feature the fastest 1500 meter runner the last decade, Silas Kiplagat along with 2013 World Silver Medalist and UO Alum Matthew Centrowitz and 2012 Olympic Silver Medalist Leo Manzano.
NBC will broadcast the Prefontaine Classic across its platforms throughout the day on Saturday, May 30th.
