In spite of what the tabloids may say, Ed Sheeran insists he's never hooked up with Taylor Swift

The 24-year-old singer recently stopped by The Breakfast Club for a candid interview during which he opened up about his forthcoming album with The Game, his past girlfriends who have inspired some of his most popular songs and even his friendship with Taylor Swift.

Asked by Charlamagne Tha God if he's ever "smashed" the "Black Space" beauty, Sheeran gave an honest reply and says the two have never been romantically involved (mind you, he was drinking with the show's co-hosts, so we know he's being truthful).

"No," the English musician responded when asked if he's hooked up with the singer.

As for why?

"I don't know," he admitted before Charlamagne poured him another cocktail, "I met her professionally first, we were writing songs. I don't know, I get along really well with her."

Charlamagne then asked if Sheeran has ever "tried" to hook up with Swift, who is currently dating Calvin Harris, and once again, the "Thinking Out Loud" singer insists the two are nothing more than friends.

"Too tall," he said of Swift when asked if she's not his type after revealing he's never tried to hook up with his beautiful BFF.

And when Charlamagne adds that "as a short man, there's nothing better than a tall woman," Sheeran hilariously fires back and firmly disagrees.

"I don't know man, I feel like we look like cast members of The Hobbit," he quipped.

In addition to his appearance on The Breakfast Club, the six-time Grammy nominee also stopped by Good Morning America this morning where he belted out a number of his hits, including "Don't" "Thinking Out Loud," "Photograph" and more as part of the show's Summer Concert Series.

As expected, the red-headed cutie doesn't disappoint—take a look!
