SEDRO-WOOLLEY — South Whidbey came up with big hits but it was sloppy defense that clipped the Falcons’ wings in a consolation loss to Mount Baker at the 1A District Softball tournament on Thursday.
The 10 errors from South Whidbey outweighed another strong pitching performance from Mackenzee Collins, who struck out 17 in a one-hit shutout earlier Thursday against Forest Ridge.
Kacie Hanson went 3-for-4 with two RBI on a triple and two doubles for South Whidbey and Ella Northup doubled.
The Falcons will play Lynden Christian in a loser-out game on Saturday.
