SEDRO-WOOLLEY — Sultan overcame a late 3-2 deficit Thursday to rally for eight runs in the fifth and sixth innings to beat Lynden Christian in the first round of the 1A District Tournament.
Pitcher Shelby Jeffries got the win with a complete-game, 15-strikeout performance. She helped her own cause at the plate with a go-ahead, three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth inning that put the Turks up for good.
Jeffries finished the game 3-for-4 with six RBI.
Teammate Bethany Kirkpatrick chipped in with a 3-for-4 night of her own that included a double and two RBI.
