Boulder could be in for a wet weekend, with showers and up to 5 inches of snow expected, according to the National Weather Service.

Today’s forecast calls for cloudy skies with high of 53 and showers and thunderstorms. The overnight low is expected to be near 44.

“A large, wet storm system is likely to move slowly through the region Friday night to Sunday morning,” local meteorologist Matt Kelsch said.

Saturday’s forecast calls for cloudy skies with high of 56 and a 70 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. The overnight low is expected to be near 33, with a 70 percent chance of snow atter 9 p.m., with 3 to 5 inches of snow possible.

Sunday’s forecast calls for cloudy skies with high of 47 with a 40 percent chance of snow before noon followed by rain. The overnight low is expected to be near 28, with a 10 percent chance of rain and snow.
