SAN BERNARDINO >> A low pressure system moving east through the Southland will bring isolated thunderstorms to the Inland Valley by Wednesday night, according to the National Weather Service.

The trough of low pressure will build over the West Coast on Wednesday through Friday and bring cooler weather and 30 percent chance of showers before Mothers Day weekend kicks off.

By Saturday, clearing skies will see warmer days, with Mother’s Day is expected to be sunny with temperatures in the low 80s.

Today, for those headed to the coast, a heavy surf will continue to pound Los Angeles-area beaches, the National Weather Service said.

NWS weather specialist Stuart Seto urged beachgoers to exercise caution.

“Don’t go onto jetties — and don’t turn your back on a wave,” he said.

Meanwhile, in the San Bernardino Mountains, Snow Summit officials Monday announced trail expansion plans at Snow Summit Bike Park are well underway. Its Going Green trail provides riders of all abilities a gentle 1,200-foot descent. “This is a special place in the sport of mountain biking,” Mammoth Resorts COO Dave Likins said. “We preserve the best aspects of riding in Big Bear while expanding terrain for beginners and core riders. We’re committed to growing the sport by continuing to improve this world-class mountain biking destination.”
