Burnt mac and cheese forces Iowa Capitol evacuation: Worker's over-cooked microwave lunch causes alarm bell panic

A worker who burnt their macaroni and cheese in the microwave forced an evacuation at the Iowa Capitol. 

Iowa Department of Administrative Services spokesman Caleb Hunter says the lunch burned in a microwave at 11am on Monday behind the Senate Chambers on the second floor of the Capitol.

He says the smoke prompted a short evacuation of the entire building during the morning.

Hunter says he's not aware of any property damage or injuries.

Secretary of the Senate Michael Marshall told Desmoines Register that he suspected he would not need to send out a memo reminding people to be careful when cooking their lunch as the siren probably embarrassed them enough. 

Jimmy Centers, communications director for the governor, told Newsweek:  'No one has come forward,' to admit the food was their lunch.
