Oregon Spring Game Storyline #2: Byron Marshall, Running Back or Wide Receiver?

facebooktwitterreddit

If there was a player who helped fill an area of need last season it was Byron Marshall. Before the year began a key player on Offense, Bralon Addison went down with a torn ACL. Marshall stepped in and became a hybrid of sorts and gained over one-thousand yards through the air for the Oregon Ducks. His previous year he had over one-thousand yards on the ground.

What and Where will Marshall Play This Season?

Oregon will have Addison back, and if Marshall remains in the position of hauling in passes, the Ducks will have quite the one-two punch in the Pac-12. If he remains in the backfield, he could also find success running the ball along with Royce Freeman, as the likely primary back to start the season and Thomas Tyner.

Oregon may have a problem, a Talent Problem. There is a ton of it entering the 2015 season at both positions. If everyone is able to participate the problem may be who to get on the field where. The Spring Game may show how wide open the battle is. Talent is always a good problem to have, but the battle will go farther than just the Quarterback position on Saturday.

I know many are hoping that some questions will be answered after the game, but the opposite may be true. There may be more questions than answers entering the Summer.

The Oregon Ducks Spring Game is set for Saturday at 11am inside Autzen Stadium.
