ULM announces 2015 homecoming date

Most universities have a cherry-picked game in mind when it comes to homecoming.

In most cases, it’s against an opponent where winning won’t be a problem, so all alums and fans can head to the exits feeling good about the ‘ol alma mater.’

ULM doesn’t get this luxury very often. And homecoming 2015 won’t be any exception.

The Warhawks will host Georgia Southern at JPS Field at Malone Stadium for homecoming festivities on October 3.

“Anymore with scheduling ours gets out of wack because of money games but homecoming is homecoming,” ULM football coach Todd Berry said. “We expect a great game out of Georgia Southern and I’m sure they’ll do the same.”

In its first year as a FBS program, Georgia Southern cruised through the Sun Belt en route to an undefeated conference championship. The Eagles’ transition status prevented them from playing in a bowl game.

ULM took Georgia Southern down to the wire in Statesboro and held a 13-9 lead at the start of the fourth quarter before getting beat 22-16.

“[Georgia Southern head coach] Willie [Fritz] did a great job and we were sitting there on the 12-yard line to win the game but didn’t make the plays to get that done,” Berry said.

ULM will release more homecoming details at a later date.
