Cheridan Hawkins was at her best all weekend. On Friday, she threw her the sixth no hitter of her career. Saturday she played a part in both games against the Ragin’ Cajuns earning a win in the first game and coming in late to get the final out in the seventh inning giving the Ducks a chance for the victory and the sweep was complete in the bottom of the eighth. Even after enduring almost an hour long rain delay, Oregon was on task and down to their final out on Offense, but got the job done to give themselves a chance for the win.

It was grit and determination in the second game to get to that point. It is what championship teams are made of, and it showed this team is complete and ready for the challenges ahead. Hawkins was phenomenal stepping in during all three games. Janelle Lindvall came through with a dramatic walkoff sacrifice fly to center to score the winning run. The first game went more smoothly for the Ducks.

Hawkins gave up just four hits and two runs and the Oregon Ducks were off to a good start in a run ruled 10-2 win in five innings. Oregon will look to close out the regular season and the final regular season at Howe Field, as we know it. Renovations are planned at the end of the year. Cal comes to Eugene next weekend for a three game series against the Ducks.

Finishing the season strong will be important specifically because the UCLA Bruins are just behind Oregon in the Pac-12 Standings.
