I've never been particularly excited at the notion of Jared Leto playing the Joker in the upcoming film Suicide Squad. While the actor / musician has been spectacular in certain roles (hi, Fight Club and Dallas Buyers Club), in my heart he's always going to be Jordan Catalano. And Jordan Catalano treated Angela Chase wrong, and no matter how dreamy his eyes were, nothing's going to change that.

But still, it's been interesting to see him slowly inch toward a role that's been played pretty masterfully in two totally different ways: by Jack Nicholson in 1989's Batman, and then by Heath Ledger, in what I'd say is the definitive portrayal of the villain in film.

And then director David Ayer posted this today.

Look, I get it. He's "edgy." He's so edgy that he has his own signature line tattooed all over himself. And he has teeth that make him look like Jaws from Moonraker. My only question is whether Leto will wear clothing during the film, or if this represents the entirety of the Joker's new costume.
