There isn’t much that is truly free today – but the Internet offers a lot of places to put your company’s message out there – for free. The catch is that it will take some time, but considering the amount of time we all waste each day staring at Facebook posts, it’s a pretty safe bet that you can find the time to post a few ads each day – for free.

Online Classified Sites – Craigslist, Ebay Classifieds, Oodle, Backpage are the largest. It costs nothing to post an ad each day on these sites, and I can just about guarantee you that if you take the time to do it consistently each day, you will find a few diamonds – clients that will add to your portfolio and profitability in a significant way.

Social Media – Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Tumblr, LinkedIn, etc. – Choose your top 5 and post something each day – or better yet, multiple times a day. You can cut your time to do this by simply tying your blog to your social media, or tying your once social media platform to another, and focusing on creating a short, but effective ad each day. BTW – you can recycle these every 3-6 months. Few people remember what they saw 4 months ago on most social media.

Newsletters / Email Marketing – Email marketing is free for most small business on MailChimp. So open an account, gather all your contacts together and start sending newsletters at least twice a month.

Blogging on your Website – Create a content strategy to talk about what you do, your industry, your client successes, etc. If you tie all this into your social media, you will get a lot more bang for your free buck, but at least you will be building SEO content – especially if your business is local.

Local Maps – Get control / claim your map listings on Google, Yahoo, Bing, and a few others, and get noticed for local searches. It’s free isn’t it?
