Perfection For Hawkins Against Washington Huskies, Ducks Win 8-0
Oregon Ducks Starting Pitcher Cheridan Hawkins is looking to have another stellar season for the Mike White and the team. So far this year she has had multiple two-hitters and a no-hitter. It was just a matter of time before she picked up a perfect game. It happened on Friday afternoon at Howe Field in Eugene in beating the Washington Huskies 8-0.

It was the first Perfect Game for Hawkins, and the first in two years for the Oregon Ducks when Jessica Moore threw one against Arizona in April of 2013. In games you always have to weigh the good with the bad and there was a bad. Hawkins, in all the excitement of the day watched her roommate and teammate Nikki Udria hit her first career home run. In the moment she crossed the fair ball area in celebration before the play was over, forcing umpires to call Udria out at home plate. Lesson learned for Hawkins, “I don’t know what I was thinking. But I’m happy all around. We played a great game; 8-0 win, good defense — what more can you ask for?”
On the Offensive side of the ball there were some dramatics as Koral Costa hit a two run home run and Hailey Decker hit a two run blast in the bottom of the fifth to end the game in run-ruled fashion. Oregon and Washington take the field again on Saturday at 2pm Pacific Time. The Series Finale is set for Sunday at 2pm.
